The crab crab Cancer pagurus is a species of decapod crustacean that is found in the coastal waters of the North Atlantic and the North Sea. It is also known as "santola" or "spider crab".
These crustaceans have a wide, rounded body with long, strong legs for swimming and walking on the seabed. The color of its carapace varies from dark brown to orange-red, with white or yellow spots.
Sapateira is a crustacean much appreciated in cuisine in different parts of the world, being especially popular in Portugal and Spain, where it is often served cooked and accompanied by sauces.
